My Amnesia Girl is probably the most "corny" Filipino film you'd ever watch not because of the corny plot but because all of the hit corny Filipino jokes used all through out the movie. If you know Nicole Hyala's Mahal Kita Kasi song, you know what I mean!
Mall of Asia's Premiere Cinema was jam packed with long queue of line 20-30 minutes before the 5:30 showing. "Patok sa Takilya" sabi nga ni Ate Guard habang umuusad na yung pila nang magpapasok na sila sa loob.
My expectations before watching the movie: I first knew the movie from a tumblr blog pinoymovies-something and after watching the traiker, I initially had thoughts of the movie as somehow patterned to 50 First Dates. Then I've read Aileen Apollo's blog about this. After watching the movie, I personally think it is new that Star Cinema was able to provide the audience with the ""Ahhhh" feeling. From the trailer kasi akala ko nga, parang 50 First Dates. So I really got curious kung pano sya gagawin ng SC. But then, it's a different story pala. After that scene in the grocery when Apollo and the boys went near to Irene, I asked with a concluding tone, "ahhh.. wala syang amnesia?! ?"
General comments:
1. Di ko lang maintindihan kung bakit magagalit/magtatampo si Apollo nung nalaman nya na hindi pala nagka-amnesia si Irene, parang mas maganda nga yun--well coming from a girl's perspective.
2. Ipilit ang totoong amnesia kay Apollo.
3. Would have been a tragic ending --well buti na lang at hindi. The scene when Apollo and Irene are trying to reconcile on each other, it was already predictable of what's going to happen. Gusto ko na lumabas ng sinehan nung mababangga na si Apollo.
4. Nakakatawa. Ewan ko lang kung napanood mo to at never kang natawa sa mga korny lines nilang dalawa. Most of the pick up lines are gasgas na pero mabenta pa rin.
5. Heart-breaking. Honestly, hindi ako naiyak. Pero yung kasama ko naiyak. Feeling ko kasi di ako nakakarelate sa situation ni Irene(Bride left by a RunAwayGroom), but I would commend that twist of the story kasi at least it's really worth Irene's amnesia act.
Notable scenes:

2. Apollo's realization scene in a marketing plan meeting.
3. Irene and Apollo phone call,
4. Apollo's freakin efforts to pursue Irene again.

Happy Ending as usual. Very Filipino-ism :)
I just watched the movie I'll Be There and I can't believe it made me cry. I'm not a big fan of KC Concepcion because I'm not satisfied with her acting. Naiirita ako kapag english sya ng english and I can barely hear her words. @_@
From the trailers and all advertisements that it's a family movie, I didn't have any intentions of watching the movie. But while my brother was browsing through the net online Filipino movies, I asked him to play I'll be there[after watching Hating Kapatid].
But Ok. I just want to clear it out, there are 3 scenes from the movie that caught my attention.
Scene 1. The Beach Scene when Mina has finally forgiven and accepted her father again and can call her father "Papa" again. [With the hug effect]
Scene 2. The Reyna Elena Scene where Mina tried out the dress she's gonna wear for Santa Cruzan. Mina said she's going back to New York and then her Dad held his hand and asked "Bakit pa?". That scene when she refused her father's request and Mina cheers him up and they end up with the Father-Daughter Dace. Then I'll be there was playing in the background... my tears started to prepare for falling.
Scene 3. She's back in New York and Carmela, her boutique financier, told her "wala ka nang utang". My tears fell when Carmela said that Gary, Kristina's father, sold their property so the debt will be cleared. So there... It made me cry. And I was like crying in front of my brother[David] and I was so funny while we were watching the movie. Hahaha
PS. I also like this scene from the movie, See Mina's shocked face.
This friend who recommended me to watch the movie has just told me that they are of the same person and I was in doubt because how come I never noticed. Hahaha. But seriously, I wasn't convinced not until now. Well, I liked Jang Geung Suk's image as Eun Gyu in Doremifa and I have not liked that much his look as Tae Kyung in He's Beautiful.
He indeed had changed his looks. I think it's the hair. I've seen a few more of his pictures online and he seems to be of 2 different persons. :)) While googling, I've come upon this blog that showcases the rumor he got a cosmetic surgery. You can just check out the blog here. Nevertheless, it's still him :) ..But I really like "better" his image in Doremifa.
It's the same old Korean's version-ing of the Cinderella Story which even if it's very much used, these movies and series will always be a hit.
He's Beautiful, in it's International English Title, is the story of supposed soon-to-be-a-nun and suddenly turns into the newest member of the Korean rockstar band AN-JELL. The twist is that the girl will have to disguise herself as a guy in order to cover up for her twin brother.
Where's the twin brother? Go Mi Nam(the real one) was out in States recovering from a cosmetic surgery that didn't turn out well and where he has to stay there for at least a month. But with the tight schedule and immediate demand from the Production Company, Mi Nam's manager resorted to Go Mi Nyo's help through disguising. Just so lucky for all of them that they are fraternal twins. They look exactly the same and both have what they called "angelic" voice.
A.N. JELL BAND.
Tae Kyung in his one in a million smile Hwang Tae Kyung. He's the leader of the band. He is like the Jun Pyo of the team. He has some drastic past and cold relationship with his mother which possibly causes his being so irritable. He is so much of a neat-FREAK and likes pouting his lips when thinking. He discovered Go Mi Nam's secret through a video cam(watch the series so you would know!). With some twists and turns, he was able to help Go Mi Nam in covering up her secret.
During Shin Woo and Mi Nam's dateKang Shin Woo. His character resembles more of Lei from Meteor Garden(Ji Hoo of BOF). He's the guy you could have and might have said "Sana sya na lang." (LOL) He has the heart warming personality and romantic but martyr-type of guy that you would hardly hardly(major major) find these days. He could have been the most pathetic guy in the world if Go Mi Nyu have never known that Shin Woo had known that she was a girl for the longest time.

Jeremy acting as if he was not hurt.
Jeremy. He is like the Wesley character of Hana Kimi Taiwan who from time to time gets frantic and paranoid towards his feelings to Go Mi Nam. He's the only one from the team who doesn't know Go Mi Nam was a girl. Well aside from that, his character is the easy go lucky guy and someone who adorably loves celebrations! He always cheer up the whole team and by the way also loves playing with his pet dog Jolie. My favorite scene with Jeremy is the Bus Scene where he courageously poured out his feelings to Go Mi Nam(the disguised one). Afterward, he said to Go Mi Nam that after they step out of the bus, they should forget what happened and they will be good friends again.(something like that!)
Shin Woo trying to confess feelings to Mi NamGo Mi Nam. As usual, the innocent looking girl and has that kind of hard to understand things. She's naturally clumsy and gullible but is very thoughtful and cute - makes these guys go loco over her. Shin Woo several times confesses his feelings to Mi Nam through his stories and she never had a clue that she was the girl that Shin Woo is in love with.
Yu Hee. The female antagonist and is Go Mi Nam's love rival with Tae Kyung. It was pretty a unique twist they had for Yu Hee's case where she wasn't the usual ex girlfriend or childhood sweetheart or the bride to be via fixed marriage. In this series, Tae Kyung and Yu Hee meet in an awkward scene and they actually start to hate each other. Only Yu Hee ends up liking Tae Kyung and of course Tae Kyung liking Go Mi Nam.
You might have a hint already, yes it's somewhat a combination of twists and scenarios from Hana Yori Dango(Meteor Garden and BOF) and Hana Kimi. But even if you as a viewer already knows the happy ending part, you would still look forward on how it's gonna end.
By the way, there are even scenes that I remember seeing in Meteor Garden. It was that scene when Sanchai was running after the bus to stop and vice versa. If I'm not mistaken, there's also a scene where it's Dao Ming Ahse running after the bus San Chai was riding. In he's beautiful, Go Mi Nam was running after the "Pleasure Bus", that's how Jeremy calls it.
Over-all, the series was not that tear-jerking but much of a Comedy-Romance plot. Of course, there were a lot of "ridiculous" scenes which if it was done in Filipino teleseryes, you might never watch it again :) It also had the Small World Effect in the ending where Go Mi Nam's father was Tae Kyung's mother's Love affair.
I also like the way their conversations were written(as if I understood). Well in English subs and in the actual scenes, they were able to highly emphasize their use of metaphors such as stars in expressing their Go Mi Nam's love for Tae Kyung.
Come on. With 16 chapters, I marathon-ed this for four consecutive nights(or mornings rather) and went to bed at around 5 to 6 in the morning.
With this series, I learned the difference between Hyung and Oppa. Both words pertain to an older brother, it's just that girls use Oppa and guys use Hyung.

Right. I was hardly thinking who the lead role of Inception was. Ofcourse it's Leonardo DiCaprio.
I've been hearing a lot about the movie Inception -- never in billboards or commercials but a lot through word of mouth. And from the plan of watching Hating Kapatid starring Judy Ann Santos and Sarah Geronimo, my friend and I end up watching Inception(in 2D, got no other choice anyway).
And out of curiosity is now amazement with infinity. I could not think of words of how to describe the movie. It was all plain wideness of imagination. According to my handy-dandy desktop installed dictionary WordWeb, inception means An event that is a beginning; a first part or stage of subsequent events.

A dream within a dream. That's what the movie inception is all about. And the vastness of the possibilities lets you think of the possibilities itself - 3 Levels of dreams, a story that makes you raise your left eyebrow at the start and say "aaaaaahhhhh" at the end. This is a a movie that at the end, it least assures you that you'll be able to arrange the puzzle that's being served to you at the start. It connects the dots -- who the old man, the women in a gun who is actually his wife Mal played by Marion Cotillard and the 2 children who has been at same scene for like 10 times and never had their faces on screen a.k.a distractors and what's with the brass top.
I like much the scene when Ariadne played by Ellen Page was being trained to design dreams and created a cubed city[in 00:22 of Official trailer 2]. I also like that scene in the airplane when everyone just got back from the dream thing and Cobb was the last to wake up.
Would you imagine that the action and suspense packed scenes on the most part of the movie(80% of the movie time) was all just in 1 3-layered dream.
The idea of the "kick" was also interesting. I dunno if it's a already an established fact that the kick happens to everyone. I myself experience the "kick" and yes it wakes me up from my dreams all the time.
I can't see any lessons but the MYSTERY in the movie and connecting the dots -- much kudos to all the creativity:)
Eclipse(the movie) - the third part of the Twilight Saga was good I should say. I was really looking forward into the quality of this movie and of course ready to compare with Twilight and New Moon. Well quite satisfying although I still didn't had much fun with their almost murmur conversations which I probably won't understand and I appreciate if I had just watched them over DvD's.
Here are a few scenes which I guess are the highlights of the movie:
"You know I'm hotter than you"- Jacob
This line was very catchy and the whole cinema really like growled with this line. This was a funny scene. This might sound intriguing and boastful of Jacob's if you have not seen the movie but that's not the case here. The three of them(Bella, Edward and Jacob) were up in the mountain when the first rain of snow came. Bella was already chilling and Edward cannot do anything[we know that Edward is fre*kin cold]. Well at least we could see frmo Edward's face that he is hurt to see Bella like that. The here comes Jacob in the scene and asking permission from Edward to make Bella feel a little bit warm. How? Wrapping Bella in his arms, that's so sweet of Jacob well and an advantage I should say. Of course Edward can't do anything because she can't let Bella die in cold. This is where Jacob's drops the line "You know I'm hotter that you."
The Wolves and the Vampires unite together. This is one likeable scene that they somehow have to force themselves in alliance along with several tribe to tribe meet ups and shake hands. Underlying reason for the alliance -- to protect the long-haired Bella from Victoria.
Jacob confesses to Bella. Finally! Jacob reveals his true feelings for her. Poor Bella, she got her hand broke after punching a wolf[jacob] in the face. I don't know if I'd be happy that somehow he has feelings for jacob or should be mad[to Bella's character of course] because i know she's still gonna end up hurting Jacob's feelings.
The bracelet - Edward gives Bella a crystal or diamond bracelet after seeing here wearing Jacob's gift which is also a bracelet with a small sculptured wolf hanging on it. [This scene is also funny]
Edward proposing to Bella. Bella wans't in favor of marriage(which I strongly disagree) saying that it's just a piece of paper. Good thing that even if edward is a vampire -- he DO respect Bella as a human and as woman.

All for now, just a few that I've noted in my mind.
ToyStory3. I wasn't a big fan of Toy Story. I don't remember my youth playing with toys and I haven't watched Parts 1 and 2 neither but I would give Toy Story 3 a 10-out-of-10 score. The story itself stands alone(meaning you get the story even if you have not watched the first 2 parts as in my case).
The plot was simple and clear. Andy is going to college and the toys(due to series fo misfortunate events) have to make Woody come back home before he leaves.
There are a lot of moral values you could get.
Loyalty -- this that have been going over circles throughout the story. Their loyalty over Andy -- their original owners.
Leadership -- this that Woody has showed off over his friends.
Unity -- what which matters for them. Was highly emphasized when they almost fell off over a burning landfill.
Conviction -- Doing what they are made for. I can highly relate to this. Even if they are just toys, they highly demonstrate as well how we as human beings should act. Living and doing faithfully what we are made to do --- submitting to our own callings. Toys bring joy to their masters and us humans being submitted to our own Master. It's as if the toys are gonna die if they can't be played with anymore.
Love - Looking into another perspective of the movie, Andy's love for his toys -- that scene where he's off to college but before that, he dropped by a house to give the toys to this little girl and making last wishes for her to take GOOD care of the things that are precious to him.That was a very dramatic and thoughtful scene.
And of the course as a big add-on -- the 3d effect. What more could I say?
The story is full of love, pain, joy, sacrifices, sadness and twists. You’ll feel nostalgic and remember your highschool friends. Such good friends. I envy the friendship rei, ken, eri, mikio and tsuru have. I wish I have a circle of friends just like them.
Quotable lines:
“i will take care of rei for the rest of my life”
-So innocent yet so sincere. Kenzo said this after rei was brought to the hospital after doing that “glider bar” something.
“…but the most important thing is the purpose of changing something now for the future. Even from now on, don’t you think you’ll reach him in time?”
-I thought Rei will go back in time too! I won't be exciting if it happened.
“Why go back in the past when you can change the future right now in the present?”
-Was repeated several times during the last chapter.

You’ll be pissed off on how many chances of confessing his feelings to rei that ken just let slipped away. he gets dumbfounded most of the time and was overtaken by Tada-san.
Ending:”that's all?.” or something like "it just ends like that?" I was expecting a better ending, Rei, in wedding dress, was running after Ken who is inside a cab(walking out after giving his message to hte newly weds). She’s calling out his name but ken didn’t hear her at all. hahaha. then meron pa pala after the ending song. But still, unsatisfied. haha.
There’s none much of the death note book here but more of L(alive L) and his witty-ness in solving and connecting clues.

Why? Because this game is extremely a deception from Satan and you are actually enjoying it.

It was shown in ABS-CBN in February 2008 after the series Spring Walz and i didnt expect i will like the series. my kuya and i finished it in 3 seatings. The story is ok. The twists and turns are superb

Han Eun-young played by Kim Hyun Joo looked very innocent through out. Acting is fine. She’s also starring in the series Boys over FLowers, a hana Yori Dango Korean Version(which is the enxt on my list to watch)
Kim Young-hoon played by Go Soo – his eyes are cute. He also have this innocent looking face in the series! He also starred in Green Rose(which i didnt know). *kilig factor*
Yoo Jin Ha played by Yoon Sang Hyun is Eunyoung’s superman. He is always there to rescue. I liked the part when they’re in France when he’s starting to like the girl – the instances when he’s watching her via the cctvs.. and when he quitted his job he really liked for eunghoon.
Jung Sumin played by Son Tae Young. She’s pretty
