It's the same old Korean's version-ing of the Cinderella Story which even if it's very much used, these movies and series will always be a hit.
He's Beautiful, in it's International English Title, is the story of supposed soon-to-be-a-nun and suddenly turns into the newest member of the Korean rockstar band AN-JELL. The twist is that the girl will have to disguise herself as a guy in order to cover up for her twin brother.
Where's the twin brother? Go Mi Nam(the real one) was out in States recovering from a cosmetic surgery that didn't turn out well and where he has to stay there for at least a month. But with the tight schedule and immediate demand from the Production Company, Mi Nam's manager resorted to Go Mi Nyo's help through disguising. Just so lucky for all of them that they are fraternal twins. They look exactly the same and both have what they called "angelic" voice.
A.N. JELL BAND.
Hwang Tae Kyung. He's the leader of the band. He is like the Jun Pyo of the team. He has some drastic past and cold relationship with his mother which possibly causes his being so irritable. He is so much of a neat-FREAK and likes pouting his lips when thinking. He discovered Go Mi Nam's secret through a video cam(watch the series so you would know!). With some twists and turns, he was able to help Go Mi Nam in covering up her secret.
Kang Shin Woo. His character resembles more of Lei from Meteor Garden(Ji Hoo of BOF). He's the guy you could have and might have said "Sana sya na lang." (LOL) He has the heart warming personality and romantic but martyr-type of guy that you would hardly hardly(major major) find these days. He could have been the most pathetic guy in the world if Go Mi Nyu have never known that Shin Woo had known that she was a girl for the longest time.

Jeremy. He is like the Wesley character of Hana Kimi Taiwan who from time to time gets frantic and paranoid towards his feelings to Go Mi Nam. He's the only one from the team who doesn't know Go Mi Nam was a girl. Well aside from that, his character is the easy go lucky guy and someone who adorably loves celebrations! He always cheer up the whole team and by the way also loves playing with his pet dog Jolie. My favorite scene with Jeremy is the Bus Scene where he courageously poured out his feelings to Go Mi Nam(the disguised one). Afterward, he said to Go Mi Nam that after they step out of the bus, they should forget what happened and they will be good friends again.(something like that!)

She's naturally clumsy and gullible but is very thoughtful and cute - makes these guys go loco over her. Shin Woo several times confesses his feelings to Mi Nam through his stories and she never had a clue that she was the girl that Shin Woo is in love with.
Yu Hee. The female antagonist and is Go Mi Nam's love rival with Tae Kyung. It was pretty a unique twist they had for Yu Hee's case where she wasn't the usual ex girlfriend or childhood sweetheart or the bride to be via fixed marriage. In this series, Tae Kyung and Yu Hee meet in an awkward scene and they actually start to hate each other. Only Yu Hee ends up liking Tae Kyung and of course Tae Kyung liking Go Mi Nam.
You might have a hint already, yes it's somewhat a combination of twists and scenarios from Hana Yori Dango(Meteor Garden and BOF) and Hana Kimi. But even if you as a viewer already knows the happy ending part, you would still look forward on how it's gonna end.
By the way, there are even scenes that I remember seeing in Meteor Garden. It was that scene when Sanchai was running after the bus to stop and vice versa. If I'm not mistaken, there's also a scene where it's Dao Ming Ahse running after the bus San Chai was riding. In he's beautiful, Go Mi Nam was running after the "Pleasure Bus", that's how Jeremy calls it.
Over-all, the series was not that tear-jerking but much of a Comedy-Romance plot. Of course, there were a lot of "ridiculous" scenes which if it was done in Filipino teleseryes, you might never watch it again :) It also had the Small World Effect in the ending where Go Mi Nam's father was Tae Kyung's mother's Love affair.
I also like the way their conversations were written(as if I understood). Well in English subs and in the actual scenes, they were able to highly emphasize their use of metaphors such as stars in expressing their Go Mi Nam's love for Tae Kyung.
Come on. With 16 chapters, I marathon-ed this for four consecutive nights(or mornings rather) and went to bed at around 5 to 6 in the morning.
With this series, I learned the difference between Hyung and Oppa. Both words pertain to an older brother, it's just that girls use Oppa and guys use Hyung.
